EMERGENCY AND PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

We Provide Individual Clean, safe apartments for homeless or formerly homeless women and their dependent children. Empowering women in supportive housing programs to live independent, healthy lives.

YWCA housing gives over 500 women the stability, support and resources while they are in recovery. They are able to build their confidence and life skills to transform to independence in the community. Because of the YWCA, women are able to take away the stress of “Where will I sleep?” Women will be taken out of dangerous living situations and given a new start in life.

Southside Manor Emergency Shelter

Located at 76 Conklin Ave, providing emergency shelter for women in our community. With a capacity of 66 beds, the shelter is committed to offering a safe and welcoming space for homeless women.

We are providing emergency shelter and support services to women facing challenging circumstances. The Shelter has 66 Beds. We provide all the basic necessities to homeless women. We are open 365 days a year and we are open

Journey Program

40 apartments for Transitional/Permanent rapid rehousing for women with a history of Domestic Violence. Our services include the following: Case management, Financial Rental Assistance, Education, Job Training, Childcare and Linkage to appropriate recovery services.

Street Outreach Program

Our YWCA’s Street Outreach, which locates and engages unsheltered homeless persons for the purposes of providing immediate support, intervention, and connections with homeless assistance programs, rapid rehousing, permanent housing and mainstream resources. We cover 6 counties and connect homeless persons with services.

Endicott Square

Endicott Square: Housing developers, Housing Visions, Inc. completed renovation of an old school in Endicott and turned it into 70 units of affordable housing for low-income families and individuals with a diagnosis of serious mental illness. The YWCA provides supportive services to 15 homeless families residing at Endicott Square. Participants receive a broad array of services such as intensive case management, Financial Rental Assistance, Education, Job Training, Childcare and Linkage to mental health and substance abuse treatment, and housing/systems advocacy.

Racial Justice

Our Mission to eliminate racism and empower women, can have a wide-ranging and positive impact on the organization and the communities it serves. By integrating this mission into all its programs, interactions, services, and community relations, the YWCA is demonstrating its commitment to promoting racial justice and equity. This can help to create a more inclusive and respectful environment for all individuals, and can also promote understanding and healing between different communities. The empowerment of women through the program can also have a positive impact on gender equity and can help to create more opportunities for women to participate fully in all aspects of society.

The Bridge Program:

An innovative housing approach focusing on mothers in recovery who have given birth to babies addicted to opioids or other illegal substances.

RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM:

Offsite rehousing program for 25 homeless individuals and families in Broome County.

  • Future Off-Site Housing Expansion 15 units for very low-income families with mental health issues in Endicott
  • 14 bed emergency shelter for women and families.
  • 48 permanent supportive housing units
  • YWCA Rapid Rehousing Program: New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) program providing support services and rental assistance to 25 homeless households in Broome County. YWCA staff assist homeless families and individuals in finding safe, affordable permanent housing off-site in an area of their choice and will provide rental assistance, financial support for utilities, transportation and household needs for 12-18 months.

  • Endicott Square: Housing developers, Housing Visions, Inc. completed renovation of an old school in Endicott and turned it into 70 units of affordable housing for low-income families and individuals. Through a contract with NYS Empire Supportive Homeless Housing Initiative (ESSHI) the YWCA will be providing supportive services to 15 homeless families residing at Endicott Square. The grand opening for Endicott Square is scheduled for September 1, 2021.
